Aldershot vs Manchester United Carling Cup Highlights

Manchester United will be desperate to put their derby day humiliation behind them when they travel to League Two Aldershot in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men suffered their heaviest defeat at Old Trafford in 81 years on Sunday afternoon against local rivals Manchester City, who stormed to a 6-1 triumph.
United will no doubt still be stinging from that embarrassment when they make the long trip to the Shots, who currently sit 15th in the fourth tier and beat Dagenham & Redbridge 5-2 at the weekend to end a run of five consecutive league defeats.
The last and only time the two sides met was in the League Cup back in 1971, when the likes of George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law were given a scare before coming back for a 3-1 win.
Shots boss Dean Holdsworth will be hoping his men can take advantage of United's recent thrashing and see off the four-time League Cup winners to achieve one of the biggest giant-killing feats in recent history.
The Red Devils head into the clash having beaten old adversaries Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road in the third round, while Aldershot edged past Rochdale at home.
The Shots are now the lowest-ranked side left in the competition having also beaten Carlisle and West Ham on their way to the fourth round.
The EBB Stadium is expected to be close to its full capacity of 7,100 as home fans flock to see Ferguson's Premier League champions.

Aldershot news

Holdsworth has a fully fit squad at his disposal for Tuesday night's encounter.
Striker Adam Smith made his full debut since joining on loan from Mansfield at the weekend and is likely to continue against the Red Devils after setting up Jermaine McGlashan for his first goal of a brace against the Daggers.
Michael Rankine and Danny Hylton scored the goals that saw off the threat of Rochdale in the third round, and the latter will be looking to register his 11th goal in all competitions.
Holdsworth rested five players at the weekend - top scorer Danny Hylton, Alex Rodman, Darren Jones and Ben Herd - so they are all expected to feature.
Changes
Ferguson has said he intends to field a similar side to the one that impressed at Elland Road last month, meaning some fringe and youth players are likely to be involved.
Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov are expected to start while Mame Biram Diouf is also in contention.
Rafael da Silva could be available to play in defence if he recovers from a shoulder injury in time, while Tom Cleverley is still out with ankle ligament damage.
Youngsters Paul Pogba, Larnell Cole and Ezekiel Fryers will all hope to be involved after making their debuts at Leeds, while Jonny Evans is suspended following his red card against City.
